Yes, You Can Be That Person

I spent time this Shabbos reading a few different books. It is so inspiring to read stories of how one person’s belief in another can change the trajectory of their life. If you ever wonder if you can make a difference, know you can.

That person who brought food to Tony Robbin’s family on a Thanksgiving when they couldn’t afford food, changed the trajectory of the young Tony’s life and from his teens on, he committed to feed the hungry. Through the Anthony Robbins Foundation and his matching funds, Tony feeds 4 million people per year in 56 countries.

Gavin DeBecker, the author of the ‘Gift of Fear’, was asked by a prisoner once why with the violent childhood he had that he sits on the other side of the bars. DeBecker told him that “one teacher believed in me.”

Gay Hendricks was suffering terribly in his school years and felt trapped in his life. When a guidance counsellor asked him “what are your plans for college?”, he had none because his single mom couldn’t afford it and he knew nothing of scholarships. The guidance counsellor took the time and care to explain to him his options considering his high aptitude scores and helped him apply for scholarships. He was able to go to college and it helped him develop into the person he is today to help thousands of people heal themselves and their relationships.

Let’s be that one person everyday who through kindness, care and connection can place positivity and love into someone’s emotional bank account and help heal the world :)

Sending blessings,
